"You haven't seen a tree until you've seen its shadow from the sky." -- Amelia Earhart
“You don't take a photograph, you make it.” - - Ansel Adams
UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

UMMM Looks good. I just this morning got a big bag og apples home. We are now out of old apples from the trees in the garden, only a few half dry apples left for the blackbirds. :-)

I love the green apple! Ah, those are excellent for keeping jetlag at bay as well, so one a day is good, and one just after you get off a plane is even better...but I have to say the pineapple really draws my attention. I think of dinosaur scales whenever I see pineapple skin, and well...I'm weird like that. Show me a fruit and I see dinosaurs, show me an aircraft and I see an insect. What I really like about this image, however, is the way it makes me remember my autumn days in the small Czech town of Cesky Krumlov...I developed a fondness for apples there, becuase I could go into a small orchard and pick them; in order to get to that orchard, you have to cross through the castle, so now apples and castles are forever linked in my mind. THESE apples are much better looking than those, and probably far juicier and filled with that applish-pulp. The ones I picked were hard things that could break weak teeth. WOW! What a ramble this has become! But this image evoked all of that and reminded me of something that will forever be a part of me. Thank you for stirring that up!

The programme about chaos theory is still fresh in my mind. The connection to your striking photo is this: Alan Turing, the code breaker, whose innovative thought contributed so much to the discovery was exposed as a homosexual by an ex-lover, tried and convicted, and given the choice of prison or female hormones to 'correct' him. He chose the latter but became so acutely depressed that he laced an apple with cyanide and commited suicide at the age of 41. A HUGE loss to science and an indictment of attitudes, some of which persist in some communities still. SUPERB still life, Bill!

Beautiful apples and other fruits. Wonder how much toxic pesticide has been sprayed on them before we eat them. Those pesticides are dangerous to ones health.

If I was to take a bite, I would lose my immortality. Looks like a Granny Smith baking apple, or a golden delicious, but there are so many varieties that it's difficult to tell. Nice, crisp still life, Bill!

Wonderful shot!!

Great shot. The point of the sticker for Beechzz is the PLU number is printed on the stickers. so if you manage to get even one in you bag with a sticker the cashier doesn't have to look up the PLU number and it makes it faster to ring up. Seriously look at the Bananas for instance the PLU is 4011 you just type it in the register and it puts in the per lbs price. Ok I'm done ranting now.
orig_buggy
brilliant!!

Drats now I've spoilt your wonderful photo as when I zoomed, I couldn't resist taking a bite. I really love fruit and I couldn't go past this apple. Now I know how Eve felt.

Mmmmmmmm ... Granny Smith ... my favorite! And a Red Delicious off to the side. Gosh. I need to go grab an apple from the fridge!
