Description

Ces princesses sont les fameuses fourmis "ailées" qui ne constituent pas une espèce mais une caste. d'après WIKIPEDIA (l'encyclopédie libre) Swarming is the primary meaning of a phenomenon observed in the hives of bees, when some of the bees leave the hive with a queen (the swarm) to form a new colony. This typically occurs in the favorable season: mid-spring, which allowed the mother colony to grow after the winter, and allow time for the new building the new hive and establish reserves. In previous weeks, several larvae were fed with royal jelly to become queens. It is the old queen who accompanies the swarm just before the birth of her replacement. It may be followed by a young queen, then it is called secondary swarm. Swarming is the natural mode of reproduction of bee colonies. Swarming is also the time when many princesses and many male ants fly off to mate, queens and males are pushed out of the nest to fly, mate and fall to the ground. The male will die a few days later, the queen, her will to found a new nest. These princesses are the ants famous "winged" which is not a species but a caste.
