Description
20th February 1815. The American 44 gun heavy frigate Constitution heads in pursuit of the far smaller & lightly armed British vessels Cyane and Levant. This was to be Constitution's final battle - always a "lucky" ship, she managed to spend the war without ever engaging a British vessel of comparative strength & firepower.

Beautiful work on the ocean and the sky/clouds. This has the look of an old oil painting. Beautiful image.

While she didn't engage a single ship of size, she did however engage two frigates at the same time. These fine ships gave the English a large shock in their war with that "upstart" nation.

<< While she didn't engage a single ship of size, she did however engage two frigates at the same time >> Yes she did - however they were both significantly smaller than her, and armed primarily with cannonades rather than long guns. I'm not decrying her abilities - she was a superb vessel, built from top quality oak from the endless American forests, and crewed largely by extremely capable seamen recruited from the East coast fishing fleets. However, she was initially laid down as a two deck 64 gun Ship of the Line, so even when the decision was taken to finish her as a frigate, she was far and away the largest & most powerful frigate in the world. She therefore had no problem dealing with British frigates, which were always significantly smaller, and fired a much lighter broadside.

Nice composition and use of Monsoon's VUE sea tools. I bought them years ago, when he sold on the 3D Commune site. They are very good, although I think that Cornucopia 3D is selling a newer version, now. As for the weight of fire etc., any Napoleonic naval wargamer would agree with you re the undergunning involved. Warm regards, from a still chilly Glasgow, John.

Beautiful scene, fantastic ship and ocean.

Great work! Though it looks like the ship is very near the shore (from the look of the waves and the foaming or is it just me) rather than in the middle of the sea. But if that is the real setting of the scene, then its great!
