Description
My first Poser render!
Custom figure modeled with Lightwave in 2010 based loosely on G2 male figure. Costume designed with Illustrator and imported to Lightwave. Figure imported to Poser. Face room texture created with Photoshop. Background image rendered with Lightwave and retouched with Photoshop.
I bought Poser a few years ago, but this was the first time I've ever gotten around to using it. As the name implies, it's great for posing figures; but getting the hang of creating custom figures, props, hair and dynamic cloth for a cape took quite a bit of research, trial and error.
This costume is a hybrid of the recent movie costume and costumes in current comic book adaptations of the character. I wanted the character to have a more contemporary look and hair style than is often portrayed. Thick hair helmets were great in the 1960s and 1970s but it's time to move on and get with the times.
Poser is a lot of fun, but the real fun is in posing and rendering your own custom characters. There is higher tech and more bells and whistles in other programs I've seen, but Poser renders simple character scenes at impressive speeds. It's amazing to me how far technology has come since the crude wireframe programs I learned in the 1980s and 1990s. The fact that it can run on your average home computer is even more impressive.
