Description

Another in my series of captures of pieces of ancient ice calved from a glacier and washed up on the opposite shoreline of the lake at it's base. This ancient ice, at least 10,000 years old, is so compressed that it melts much slower than the ice forming nightly around it on the lake's surface.

I'd drink Vodka with my closest friends out of something shaped like this...which would make it hard to render a traditional (and long winded) Russian toast, but oh well. I love this image, the structure of the ice is amazing and crisp. This is absolutely wonderful work!
