Stellar black silhouetted reflection of one of your favorite subjects, a barren tree, this one with twigs, branches and limbs galore, Carin! I like the rippled effect at the upper left.

This shot brings back memories, only there are no bored Czech police involved in it...at least none that I know of. I took a similar shot, but not nearly as nice, in a garden in Prague...a policeman walked by, saw me taking it, walked on and that was it. Later, in the same garden, I was taking another picture, the SAME policeman walked by, saw me taking THAT picture, but walked on...later still, as I was leaving, I passed the same policeman again! This time he stopped me with the typical, polite "Pardon," and asked if I was a photojournalist. I told him that I was an expatriate writer, and he asked to see what I'd taken pictures of. I showed him and he grinned and said that everyone likes puddles and mushrooms and that I should go to outside of Prague, "in the nature" for the best mushroom and puddle shots. He was quite nice and invariably named Honza...what is it with Czech guys and that name!? Anyway, this picture brings all of that back because it's what I tried to capture, but didn't quite manage. The light was wrong, the puddle wasn't deep enough, and I had a bit of "cold-shiver" blur that really didn't work. What you've got is crisp clarity, gorgeous and subtle color, and a wonderful wordless vibe going on here. This is what poetry looks like, what the Japanese Haiku Masters were always attempting to capture in 17 non-repeating syllables. This is pure brilliance and well...it's charming to know that it came to us via a new laptop as well...aren't new toys just wonderful!? Well, I think so and I'm incredibly happy to have seen and experienced this shot. After I comment I'm just gonna go stare at it for a while.
