Description
Wellington Arch is located on an 'island' between Hyde Park and Green Park. It was built between 1826-1830 for the Duke of Wellington's victory in the Napoleonic War, this is considered as a grand entrance to central London. Up until 1992, this arch actually housed the second smallest police station in London!! Surrounding the arch is a number of war memorials.
This is one of those places that you would usually pass through to get to somewhere - Hyde Park, Green Park, Buckingham Palace, Picadilly Circus, and Knightsbridge are all very close by. But if you actually pause and take a look around, the memorials are certainly something to take in, as well as the impressive arch (the Quadriga - the black statue on top, is impressive!)
