Description

Merged 3 shots to get the square format. No filter Did some post work for contrast, burning, dodging. The usual! So it is a quite straight forward shot. Behind the scene: The photo I posted today was taken at Green River Overlook. I check that tree once in a while (since 92) and the trunk falls apart slowly but surely. Composition with that tree becomes tricky (at least for me). I left home early that morning to drive up to Canyonlands (Island in the Sky district). It snowed during night time and I had to drive in 8 inches of snow, all the way, making my own tracks. The goal was to get some shots of Mesa Arch at sunrise. Unfortunately some clouds were blocking the horizon and I did not get exactly what I was looking for (I will post the shot tomorrow). On my way back to the truck I ran into the Park Ranger who told me he had just closed the entrance gate to avoid new tracks before the snow plow gets up here. I ask him if I could stay and he says yes, which means I had the rest of the overlooks for myself that morning. It was interesting to know that I will have fresh snow any where I will decide to get a shot. I finally was not able to take advantage of the situation because the light was not great. But I enjoyed the moment for sure!

I love the feeling of a fresh, cold, crisp winter morning this image conveys. The composition is beautiful too.

MAGNIFIQUE !
