Description

I captured this Egyptian Goose in a park last summer. The light was rather bad though, so I did some postwork for it to resemble a night shot in bright moonlight! I like how the water turned out! Thank you for popping in and for your very valued comments and favs on my 'Into the Wind' upload of yesterday! Stay well! Hugs, Carin xx

Aaaargh! Egyptian Geese! In their wisdom nature conservation have got rid of all the alien birds in the marina, leaving the indigenous water fowl to flourish. Now the Moorhens and the Egyptians outnumber anything else. This one is rather messy and verbal come breeding season – squawking proclaiming turf all through the night from the rooftops. Aaaargh! The water is great Carin, as for the bird... a far from silent sihouette! Clive

Yes, the water is gorgeous, and we don't have these geese here, so I find them wonderful! Excellent work!

Yes, a most unique image on display here of the Egyptian Goose (how did you know it was Egyptian?) silhouetted against the interestingly patterned lake, Carin.

I really like the post work you did for this. I am sure that the original picture was quite nice too, but sometimes it is hard to keep water from reflecting too much light and washing everything out. I really like the goose shadow, I didn't even know that there were Egyptian geese, but I suppose there would be. Of course I wonder if he speaks Egyptian. I really DO like the water in this, it's very smooth but it looks like its dancing like something alive. Great effect.

In ancient Egyptian mythology a goose laid an egg and all of reality hatched out of it. I suppose the ancient Egyptians were really into their geese--enough to put them in myths. I think of that primordial goose when I see this image...the water is gorgeous...not as chaotic as the ancients saw, but it's mysterious and wonderfully intriguing nonetheless. I love the goose silhouette as well. The whole picture is wonderful in every way.
