Description

A shot of the US Navy's Blue Angels demonstration team in action last Summer in South Dakota. It's amazing what these skilled pilots can do with these aircraft. This shot was taken using a manual 250-1600mm lens, handheld in the crowd on the flightline.

Woah, DUDE, what a sight! I don't know why, but high performance aircraft usually do bring out my inner Bill (or Ted)...there's just something about screaming metal. I love the POV here and the closeup, it's almost as if you were flying shotgun to these guys. This rocks.

Tight shot - as tight as their flying. You can see their helmets turned to watch the wingman's wingtip - only a few feet away. Excellent capture! aeroplanes in tight formation like this DO occasionaly touch! And they don't then explode like in the movies - it's just like a car-park ding.
