Description

This an image of of a niche on the north side of the Nave in New Yorks gigantic church of St. John the Divine. The pic was taken on a cold clear day in January 2009. The stone work is tinted with colors beamed through the sunlit windows on the South side (opposit) of the Nave. Water damage to the stone work from the great fire 8 tears ago remains visible. The incredible complexity of the stained glass window is very obvious and its jewel like colors are rather well rendered. I believe this image captures a great deal of the timeless beauty inherent in an older Gothic church.
