Danny - love the concept and you are coming along really great. One thing I would offer to you is (please don't be offended) is the light that is shinning just over the top of planet would make your ground shadows come straight back to the viewer instead of to the right, of course, unless my old eyes are messing with me :-)

This image rocks. It has a definite science fictional/otherworldly feel to it as well as a haunting dream-like quality. I love the blue orb (whether it's a planetary body or a mysterious dome doesn't really matter as it works perfectly as both) and the glare of starlight just above it is fantastic. It has the feel of a really good book cover, and I'm kind of a bug for book covers that draw my attention. It's great work all around. Based on the light sources in this, I would probably lengthen the shadows a bit; the image works this way, definitely, but I think longer shadows would add an extra pop, since we're looking at both light and rocks head on. In all this is a solid and wonderful work of art. Great stuff.
