Just an old photo I found of myself while on holiday in Austria back in 2000 This was late one afternoon and from the previous night the snow fall was in excess of a meter. The town was totally blocked off from the rest of the world because of the snow I am standing between to cars that were in a paring area outside the Hotel, and as you can see I am up to my ( Umm ) in snow, the cars side mirrors were about level with my knees, and cold to say the least. After 2 days the authorities managed to clear the roads etc, and we were able to get out. Fortunately I had a 4 wheel drive and snow chains, or we would have had to wait another day as they were only allowing the 4 x 4 with chains to move … was all exciting etc as we were on holiday, but I can just imagine the frustration of the people who have to fact this every winter.
