Description

This trail in a Lake County Metropolitan Park in Ohio was on the largest deposit of mineral quartz (Lucky Stones)and granite I have ever seen. Mineral quartz was used by superstitious people as a lucky stone for grave burials and as a talisman with protective powers. We children collected them, mostly from the beach.

What a pretty maple leaf! And with the colors of the pebbles! I used to live in Berea, Ohio and Pickerington, Ohio...so LOVE seeing pictures of that beautiful state!! Am living in New Hampshire now, so if you wish to see granite, we are known as the Granite State....come on and visit us!!!

We call these stones "Kiesel" and yes, they are pretty, especially when they are wet. My father used to polish them with vaseline to keep this effect for me when I was still little. Something made me think of you and Gayne yesterday and became a bit worried - so I am glad to see you healthy and in a whole!

Good photo and interesting information regarding the use of the stones. I must have had one in my pocket when I met you.

I like the combination of the moss amid stones and leaves.
