Great sketch, Ana! Books are wonderful things. The book that ends with a question keeps us looking for the answer until we find it. Even when we know the answer it can be elusive to our consciousness for many years.

So incredible evocative, as only you can draw it with so few lines. Dear Ana, you are a great artist. I love it.

some people can do a minimalist drawing like this and have it convey the mood perfect as you have done

Well, I'm back for more! And I'll be back for more later, too...your work is too good to go without comment. You create whole worlds with the fewest lines: The lines of this woman's head & shoulders are absolutely perfect: Her head & shoulders & arms make a "unit," a complete world by itself. Everything flows in a big beautiful oval, like an egg. And her head is at rest in a "pillow" made of her arms. And you've used just enough shading around her head to give it life & power & intensity. Such econômico lines! Truly, your drawing is a university course, by itself! Then the torso almost disappears---but for a few random lines---and we see her hips & legs, wonderfully drawn---crossing, with her right knee raised to support her head. This is such intuitive drawing, Ana. And you've used shading, again, in a few places only; leaving lots of open space to bathe her. Then, you indicate the surface she sits on with just a few lines. Your minimal lines give us the feeling that this woman could be anywhere in the world. Your portraits are portraits of all of us. And your feet---always wonderfully drawn---have just a few strokes, but they're expressive & eloquent, as they always are. Ok...I'm sure you know this drawing, but I'll give you the link anyway: This is considered Rembrandt's greatest drawing. He drew it late in his life. It's his wife, Hendrickje, asleep at a chair. Rembrandt used a brush (drawings often used brushes in those days), but look at his minimal lines, and how expressive he was with them. Then look at how Rembrandt---like you---uses shading to give intensity to her face. Her body, here, is like a big sleeping bear: He painted slumber. So did you. If you ask: "Are you comparing me to Rembrandt?" My answer is: "Yes! Exatamente!" The drawing is here.. Click on it, to make it larger. (Oh, and btw: It's Friday now! LOL! I saw you in the Forum! You probably think it's Monday, but no, it's only Friday, lol! I'll send you a calendário---you can put it on your wall!)

OMG!! Mark:) thank you so much for your words! But really! I am nothing compared with Rembrant and so many others...they do that all the life...he was GREAT ALL in ALL! I cannot compare...!! And i do love my sketch too...it´s ME when I DON'T THINK...see? just a strong feeling moving my hand..i think even my brain and my heart stopped in that moment...and in just very few seconds and very few lines to not lose the emotion, i did this...only that! you are right when you say "Very intuitive" BUT IT IS JUST THAT..nothing more! However..i feel emotioned with your emotion and i thank you very, very much! And i thanks very much all my viewrs here!! All OF YOU, left here great emotion and gave me force to GO ON and that means the world for me! Thank you! Thank you, Mark! Ps: Of course, i saw Rembrandt here:)thank you for the link, Mark:)!
