Description

With apologies to Frederick Lord Leighton...but Flaming June has long been one of my favorite Pre-Raphaelite paintings--a style that has been a great inspiration to me. And...I have long wanted to do Alex in this pose! I so love to portray people sleeping. There's something mesmerizing about it. Production notes: M4 Enhanced with my own character; "Summer Siesta" set from DAZ with some Egyptian Pottery and LB plants; Sunstrokes background; my own lighting setup in Poser 7 Pro. Hair and cloth painted in post, with the frame & a little color kick as well. Alex says: "Send Coronas! With citrus rum, thank you." He's so polite. How can we refuse?

I'm very envious of the draped fabric. Very nicely done. This is a very classic pose and composition. I really like the warmth of the colors: they make me think of a gentle summer (more of a late spring, really). I also like the effort you put into framing it. My one thought on improving the composition (not that it needs it, mind you), is to wonder if a little more shadow on the upper left side of the image might not help draw our eyes to his upper body. Right now the apricot draping (you just know it's silk by the way it hugs his backside) captures and hold my eyes, making me work to move my gaze upward to the young man's upper body. If the upper left had just a little shadow, it might add some depth to the scene and help move our eyes upward to him more naturally. It might also help tell the tale by giving us a stronger sense of the time of day. But, of course, I'm nitpicking. This is VERY nicely done! Thanks for posting.

Beautiful! You've recreated the pose so well - I'm so tired of seeing Poser figures that look like shop mannequins, your guy looks like a real person who fell asleep.
