Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Sets in the east? Hey, what planet are you on? Rich sepialike hues and tones in this quasi silhouetted capture, M!

Great capture! I always feel a little confused when the water is on the "wrong" side, too. All those years of mountains east and west and water to the west. Anything else seems weird!

Nice tone and composition!

Great atmosphere, I like the POV very much too! East??? I guess it depends on where you are huh? Interesting!

Oh, I'd most certainly get that feeling...Lake Michigan is east so if I ever see a large body of water with the sun setting over it, I'd feel that extreme and surprised confusion as well...or I'd think I was on some planet with retrograde rotation, like Venus (only I wouldn't go to Venus in its current, super-hot and inhospitable condition.) I love the treatment of this photo, the tones are wonderful and you captured that sunrise/sunset vibe perfectly. I love the starkness of it. This is gorgeous work!
