These Warriors of Winter are for my Mom who had her 77th birthday today. On Saturday she underwent a major surgery, but she has survived and is in pretty good spirits all things considered. She has always had a strong spirit and resilience and so I created this "Winter's Warriors" as a gift for her because I realize that though she is a warrior she is also now in the winter of her life.
This is also for Val and PDesign for their lovely Tessa character whose pale skin tones really perfectly grace this image. I shot her with a ray traced cold blue light as my main light, a white fill from behind and a pale tan front fill to give an overall cool look which suited Tessa's skin. I then deepened her skin tones a bit and sharpened up the image by using two of AdamWright's Dynamic Mood Actions in CS4, fantasy at 50% over top of sharpen at 100%. Hope you like it.
Hugs to you for creating such a wonderful character; I truly love her pale look, it is so different from most characters I work with.

First: Glad to hear your mom wennt through her ordeal successfully. Nice dedication. Second: I am glad you talked about the lights. One of the first things that jumped out at me about this image was the lighting and how it really made the textures pop and I immediately wondered what you used for lights. Thanks for mentioning it. A very different image for you, yet it still works extremely well. Never thought of a red dragon as a "Winter Warrior" but once again you have thought "out of the box" and really made it work. The composition, colors, posing and expressions here are excellent. This is long after you posted, so I hope your Mom's fully recovered by now.
