At first I thought you had discovered an ancient library full of scrolls. And who else on this site could use the title 'Remembering Shanghai' because they had been there? Just bamboo sticks but art in your hands. Excellent.

The term Painting with Light comes to mind - with the lines angles and shapes shadows and color - dark and light - I can see the appeal.

Superb view Nikolay! At first glance i thought,i dont know why...:-))in cell aggregate...because the shapes or perhaps it made me think in a organized crowd...because the population of china...i love the structures and the contrast light/dark and the dark spaces, very much!!!!

Isn't it amazing what can be done with bamboo? Love the repetitive patterns and shapes. These are what was used to build every building of two or more stories in Vietnam too. Funny how a stack of bamboo brings memories flooding back to me...but that's what excellent photographs do.

I like it too and as Bill wrote, it can be used in fantastic many ways. My brother once made ear rings and such of them. Excellent shot.

The bamboo sticks/scaffolding holes would make lot's of nice homes for wasps and other insect's... but then imagine the scaffolding being used, after that for other constructions, no I better not think of that, ouch! You know for safety reasons/rules & laws, we are here in the 'civilised world'(?) wouldn't be allowed to use such materials in the building industries, without somebody suing the pants of you. It's amazing, that it works elsewhere in this world ? Intriguing find, BB

And also the ancient library from Alexandria! :)

I agree ... I like the way it looks, too!

How amazing! Bamboo is such weird stuff...durable AND a form of grass!?!?!? Weird. I love this image, there is a complex geometric grace to it and a wonderful mood brought out by the subtle manipulation of black and white and sepia toning...this is rich and complex, well worth multiple views. Great work as always.
