Description

Truth be told I haven't been working on much of anything lately, but I got word of MGM's SGU Graphic Novel Contest last week and figured I'd give it a go. It was only a cover + four pages depicting what would happen with Dr. Rush after the episode, Justice, so I figured I might actually be able to get something done on it. This image is from the pages from my entry which was titled Alone. I wanted it to be more of a traditional looking comic/graphic novel style, hence why it's not my usual look, but I think it came out ok. Everything was created using Poser 7, Vue 6 and Photoshop and layout and lettering was done in InDesign. You can check out my entry at http://sgugraphicnovelcontest.com/#/book/73 (warning: the site is pretty janky) and if you like it, please vote :) As always, thanks for looking and if you do check out my entry, I'd appreciate hearing what you think!

It is very different from your usual style. It's important to try out different styles from time to time, and I think this worked out well. I can't understand why your submission is not #1 in the contest ranking, 'cause it's clearly the best. Come on people, get in there and vote!

Though I'm not familiar with the SG-U series, this image truly captures the sense of solitude but conveys a certain determination as well. As always, an exceptional image.

Good Luck, JCD. My wife and I only just saw this episode recently. Not bowled over by their use of the premise so far, "so what have they run out of this week?" That said, this character one of the more intriguing of the show and his being stranded a much needed development in the story line. Flawless design/composition. I really like the render of the ship and space. My only hang is on the cross-hatching technique for the figure and that's coming from someone who used to do a lot of cross-hatching so its my personal aversion. Best of Luck to you! Let us know how it goes.
