The Face of Love Many times people fear love. They fear the intimacy of it The commitment of it. They fear the lowering of their boundaries of letting another person see all their weaknesses. We seem to forget, they can see our strengths, as well. And so, out of the fears of those things and many more reasons the mask stays on, and they miss so much. There are choices with love. We must be willing to be open to the possibility of it. We must be willing to let the person see the true person that we are. We need to have the maturity to realize that loving someone is just the beginning, not the goal. We must have the maturity to realize that there is no such thing as a "perfect love" we are imperfect people, therefore we make mistakes, in love as we do in life. We must learn to compromise. A word and deed some people have such trouble with. We must be mature enough to realize the we can't, nor do we have the right to "change" someone else. If we love the person they are, then "changing" them isn't necessary. The hardest of all is to know that love can, and sometimes does change though the passing of time. We must live with the knowledge that the person we love, may one day walk away from us, taking parts of us with them. Love is not a fairy tale, and doesn't have a "happily every after" attached to it. I wish it did, for all our sakes but it doesn't. So the question is, do we take off the mask, do we take that chance, or do we continue to wear it? That answer must be found within one's self. No one else can answer that It is an individual choice.
