True, Joel.....on the face of it, many conventional missions, but just how many years separated the Conestoga Prairie Wagon from the Boeing 747? A mature Mars colony processing resources from the asteroids would have the means to achieve this. Rich sources of materials from the asteroids can provide the stainless steel used in this concept, while the much more accessible than on Earth, platinum and gold elements, can provide much exchange currency to import other supplies. Today 600,000 tons of ore is processed to yield just one ton of platinum. There are solid shards of near pure combined metals as large as Everest orbiting out there.......
