This actually struck me as both desolate and beautiful. The light is lending a beauty to it that softens the desolation. I love this image.

yes, it does feel like a landscape for lonely souls, you captured a desolation and an emptiness. But you also got a very beautiful bleakness, with your heavy dark shadows, your band of mist in the horizon, that beautiful blue that arises in the sky, the striking reflection in the water, and the delicate clouds atop as well as the highlights on the mountain peaks. Like all your small landscapes, this has a lot going on in a small space, and it's very much of a mood-piece; and the hues are quite evocative. A fine landscape, and for a desolate place, it has real beauty as well.
