Abuse has many faces. The child that bears scars of physical abuse we see we can understand, sometimes we see the mental scars. But what of a society that poisons the hearts, souls, and minds of its young? That teaches it there is no truth, no values, no meaning. We see babies having babies, and teens killing teens for things like a pair of shoes. What is the answer? We say we are wise, intelligent, we say we live in an age or enlightenment and values self respect, respect for others, social conformity, and so on, that went before, were no good, so kids dream of death, their minds turn morbid, and then we are shocked when some young soul in torment comes to school with a gun and kills?

This is beautiful, Mickey! So many bright faces, full of joy! Children have such an abundance of enthusiasm for life. It is a crime of the worst kind when this is destroyed by cruelty. To see an adult's eyes, looking out of a child's face, is one of the saddest things on Earth. I could gaze at your image for a very long time. There is so much to see here. The children holding still so that they can be painted, and then smiling broadly when the painting is done. The tired children who doze on the bus after a long fun day. I like seeing the same child in many poses. I noticed a little girl in orange, because she reminds me of one of my nieces, when she was a child. I love the layering effect you have done here, particularly on the little chef on the right. Though in the face of this chef, I see the one face that haunts me. Staring out from the face of the smaller chef, I see a little girl in pink. She does not look happy at all. I wonder if she is alright and I hope it is just a passing moment and she is soon smiling. I've gone on and on, but this is a really amazing work!
