Description

Monument dedicated to the Doge Francesco Dandolo (+1339). This hall belonged to the ancient great Frari Convent (“Magna Domus Venetiarum”), which turned into the State Archives in 1815. The chapter house is so-called because it was used for the meetings of the friars. When ownership of the Convent was passed to the State, the Chapter house was completely abandoned. After the in-depth restoration in the 20° century, out of all the monuments once located here, only one is left: the monument dedicated to the Doge Dandolo.
