Description

I visited the Lonesome Stone Alpaca farm (Near Granby Colorado) last summer. What beautiful and gentle animals! I discovered some Alpacas have blue eyes - I thought they were all brown. This painting was done from a reference photo I took during that trip. Finally started painting again after a few month absence -Yeh for me:) I used Winsor & Newton paints on Arches paper. Original size 15x11" The hard part was doing the hair, particularly the eyelashes and the rim hair. I dont use white paint, so I had to plan ahead and reserve the white of the paper with masking fluid.

the complexity of the shapes and colors in this picture really impress me. i would never have expected the length-wise lines in the neck, but they look realistic. even though it may not be what you intended, i like how the scene looks so soft, translucent and organically and chaotically shaped that it makes me think of an underwater scene. and the way you use light colors and whites just amazes me. it's great to see you returning to painting!

Fabulous painting, Pnina!!Yeahhhh!!!for you and great pleasure for me,to see your painting. I love the atmosphere...somehow misterious and silent...the deep of the grey behind...bring me the silent.I love the dimension of the figure in the scene..and your reds, always!!The fact you dont use white painting, its very interesting ( i dont too) and that is very challenging while working!Superb!

I love this! You've captured the eyes perfectly, I didn't know they had blue eyes. The color palette is so lovely. Glad you got back to painting, this is really wonderful.

Looks great. It looks very furry and huggable, and also like it is eyeing me warily in case I want to steal its grass.

OH Yes Masking Fluit. I heard the first time about it, when I saw your "Confluence- Hollyhock Lines" painting and of course i have a bottle of that stuff now. Now I only dream about using it as well as you do :-)
