Description

Up to Yosemite In late spring of '95 And though I saw much beauty Barely made it out alive Up Highway 41 Then on to Badger Pass Descended to the valley Where I nearly froze my ass The first few days were sunny With good times had by all And then the weather turned so bad We all thought it was fall For three long days it rained Down in the Curry Camp And those canvas sided cabins Were cold and dark and damp The forth day dawned The rain was gone Salvation was at hand But when I opened up the door There was snow upon the land Yes its true I froze and soaked A most unhappy man Though I couldn't wait to get away I can't wait to go again That's right, you read it correctly. Six days before the Summer Solstice it snowed in Yosemite Valley! I wore my underwear, a sweat suit, pants, shirt, sweater, jacket and scarf. Nothing helped. The cold cut through me like a warm knife through butter. But the scenery sure was pretty.

This is what Yosemite is to me... I have seen this valley floor dry and it is not nearly as lovely as when the water pools here. Gorgeous shot. I know what you mean about the cold and dampness there. The air can be wrung like a sponge and it seems to find its way through all the layers of clothing. (P.S. glad to hear you wore your underwear with all that other clothing. It helps prevent chafing...LOL)

Excellent and fun poem! Beautiful image! I love the green tree against the purple ones and the wonderfully captured mist! The snow and where it blends into the mist looks beautiful! I like the little baby trees too. Terrific posting! Brrrr!

Your verse reminds me of when my mother always wrote to me in doggerel when I was away, it poured out of her as easily as breathing!
