Description
Picher Oklahoma was home to mines that supplied bullets for U.S. soldiers fighting in World War I and II.
Its population reached a peak of 16,000 as World War II approached. By 1970 the last mine in the area had closed.
On April 24, 2006, Reuters reported that Picher had been scheduled to be closed and all residents removed. Due in large part to the removal of large amounts of subsurface material during mining operations, many of the city's structures have been deemed in imminent danger of caving in.
Picher is now a ghost town.

Have you depleted saturation of the building or does it look that starkly monochrome? Great photo. Where I live is not likely to cave in but some suffer from manufacturing during WW2 and the cold war.

I like the lonely feel of the overall composition but the church, although in disrepair, still retains the feeling that someone might show up at any time for services. The wheelchair ramp is very telling.

Great image. Even the gray sky and leafless trees add to the desolation. Well done

Nice picture. The only question is: Does God still live here?
