Description

Lyon has ben dubbed the capital of the trompe l'oeil. True or not, it sports wonderful artwork, such as this one on the facade of a building near the Saone river. The illusion is outstanding, especially beacuse the eye is distracted by the colorful ribbons on the bare branches of the tree, matching with the red and yellow chairs of a typical café at the corner. While we have been lucky enough to se some more trompe l'oeils, by no means we saw them all. We should go back to explore them all...and have another taste of the magnificent food. This is one intriguing, rich, and vivid photo. I love it. I have yet to make a return to France (or any other part of Europe for that matter) and I'd love to spend as much time as possible at comfortable little corner cafes like this one. This is marvelous work. I love the brilliant splash of color on what has been--for me--a very gray and ugly day. Fantastic!
