Description

Haitian Flight II {Old Soul's} They prepared me for a special place; Tell me I've no time to waste. Challenge me to face my life's request; Encourage me to do my best. Everywhere I go in everything I see; Flying in the air speaking truth through me. In my darkest deep depression They give counsel to my soul. They open up new meaning, And God's power takes control. I am a curious spirit child, Who fell through earth with a crack of lightening. But God so kind and merciful, sent old souls to set me free.... and guide me home.... guide me home...home...home Many stories fell from Haiti following the earthquike on Jan. 12th. Most were tragic, some were miraculous, manny talked of the strenight of a people, of their spiritual foritiude in the midst of so much death and destruction. There were stories of the missing, of the dead, the displaced, of insanity following the loss of entire famlies, and of famine & plague. Two such stories that really touched the deepest crevices in my heart; this is one them, "The story of a Miracle". On the third day a little 16 month old girl named Whinnie was discovered. She had survived burried under the rubble of a building surrounded by the dead for three (3) days she lay in the dark waiting. I just had to try creating a work of art, an expression of my joy and wonderment over this miraculous event... this celebration of life. There are so many things I wondered, so many things I could write about. I thought of Job from the Bible, of Lot and his family, of Lazarus, and of the resurrection on the third day. Her rescuers say she did not cry, that once they had punched a small hole through the rubble and she saw the light of day she calmly crawled twords it and them. I can't help but wonder, "was she so young that she still had memories of the womb"? Could she have felt, thought to herself with a smile, "Hey! Time to be bourn again"? Maybe this was His way and there is a leason to be learned. Maybe little Whinnie was spared so that we may all know The Creator is still with us, still watching over us creating miracles. In any case I think the story of littleWhinnie is one of the most beautiful gifts I've received in a very long time. A gift of hope and the love of our Creator. The gift of a second chance not only for Whinnie but for us all. More importantly it serves as a reminder. That metaphorically speaking, we all at some time are swallowed up, find ourselves in the bowels of despair, desperation, spiritual or emotional hunger and given a second chance; a second chance at life. See for yourselves. Whinnie Old Souls by ~Dianne Reeves~color>

Elliot I like this you have taken your art to another level by linking the actual news clip to what you are conveying in your art. Great surrealistic work
