Description

It a wonder how much the news lie to us and we think they telling the true? I been knowing about this graveyard when i was a child and so did eveyone in town. Yes it was overgrown with trees and weeds. But when a Casino and hotel wish to build there; the local news came in and told people that it was a great find that no one knew about and the Casino and hotel is going to pay to move it. Some people in Lake Charles did stop them from moveing some of the graves like the father of Lake Charles is bury there. So the Casino had to build they parking lot around it. The Casino was open for a few years intill the last Hurricane here closed the doors to it. The Casino and hotel buildings is still there and there is watchmen on duly. I was in the graveyard which do have a History National sign on it, but it closed in by a privite parking lot which have no trustpassing signs around it. I saw one of the parking lots enter "no trustpassing" signs was gone and it was close to the graveyard. The graveyard do have a black iron fence which you see in the photo, but the gates was open. I saw no one around so I when in and took the photos. all graves I saw was from 1840's to 1899. I did not look at all of them which i was for it is a small graveyard. I did see a white truck with yellow flashing lights comeing at me so I wlk to my truck and drove off before he got to me. I be back lol anyway thanks for stopping by and take a looky too.

Great shot! It's amazing how the mind of the general public works: they 'know' about something and don't really give it a second thought UNTIL some business decides that they want the land or whatever and then everyon rises up in anger, ceclaring, 'HOW DARE THEY....?' Great documentary, Jocko. I hope you're able to get more pictures soon

Nice capture Jock and it is horrible that a casino can be allowed to bribe and push a city into moving their graveyard

Interesting story Jocko. The old graves down your way always get my attention. As I understand it because of the very high water table in southern Louisiana, graves must be built above ground like we see here. Excellent image of this little old graveyard...glad you paid your respects.

Land of liberty and freedom only if you have lots of money. Never saw any one get run off a grave yard before.

When I was in New Orleans years ago, we took a cemetery tour. It was very interesting because they buried people above ground because of the water level, Cool shot, Jocko!

Jock, if you have easy access to this or any other graveyard, go there at night and take digital photos. You may get pics of bright orbs floating over the graves. You won't be able to see them until you check out the fotos on your monitor. They're the spirits of people who won't accept the fact that they're dead. Spooky I know, but it would make for great Renderosity stuff.

My friend had joined the marines, did his time and came back to Hawaii only to find a Hotel over his grandfathers grave. He doesn't know where they moved it if they did? Such a shame.... Aloha
