Description

"Decrypt it!" ordered the Admiral, then motioned to the member of GHOUL (Great Holy Oath of the Unfathomable Law) to come forward. The GHOULs, also known as "The Spies of the 104s", were members of a small religious sect in charge of handling all that was impure and therefore they also guarded the political and religious purity of Rogue society. Thanks to the support of Red Mantle senior military ranks, they'd become very powerful and managed to fill the role of political officers on the ships of the fleet. As the GHOULs had to secretly report impure activities, their identities were unknown and they were always hidden behind a mask. "So the Admiral is one of the 104s!" thought JS. "This is manna from heaven!" "Immure this impure female in an unholy area. She must not corrupt the virginal purity of the ship, but wait for my order before taking her in the 'doll house' cargo-ship," said the admiral and dismissed them. "We consulted Galactypedia, my lord, it's a coded message of an ancient Earthener war. This was the first line and alerted the fighters to attack targets behind enemy lines within the next few days. The second line, 'Blessent mon coeur d'une langueur monotone', meant that the main attack, a landing, had to be expected within 24 hours." "GOD is going to land on New Mars! Order the fleet to patrol this quadrant and monitor all communications to/from the Earth. The Eartheners'll find us ready to welcome them!" and the admiral allowed himself a wicked smile. "The good of a conspiracy theory is that the more the clues are murky, the more they're taken as evidences!" JS informed his staff with a sly smile. "And now?" Vasquez asked. Suddenly an orderly rushed in: "A call from the Earth, sir! Direct from GOD!" JS stared at his staff with a significant look: "Great is the disorder under the sky, so the situation is excellent!" and went to his office. "Who the hell are you sending your messages to, Sea? those frequencies haven't been used for years! There's a third player, we don't know about?" yelled GOD herself. "I'm sorry, Madam, it's classified." JS stated flatly. "How dare you!" JS raised one eyebrow quizzically. "You are an Earthener, Sea! what can you tell me about the Bloody Dawn?" Silence. Unperturbed, JS simply waited, let the silence stretch, his stance relaxed, but immovable. As many had before when he was questioning them, she wispily shouted: "Answer..." then she stopped, her eyes widened: "Oh-oh! This line isn't secure!" she said. "I'll find one, ASAP. I'll send some drones over there." JS's grin would have done credit to a demon. "There's been a substantial exchange of communications between the EA HQ and New Mars, my lord." The Rogue Admiral nodded knowingly. JS summoned Adam, Vasquez and the two urchins inside a captured Rogue dropship. "Time to go to get Eve back. Adam, you go to talk with the two Rogue prisoners, one is wounded, but the other can drive this ship. Give them this letter stating that you are willing to betray, since I've deceived you and made a coup. It says that you're willing to fight the Eartheners off. In exchange you ask for the admiral's leniency. The prisoners' escape is proof of your good faith and the letter will force them to land on the Bloody Dawn. Flotsam and Jetsam, you help them escape. I'll be hidden on board. Questions?" They spent a few hours to polish their plan. "And our ship, sir?" said Vasquez. "It's coming, but Eve must be with us. Vasquez, if we won't be back, sent the second verse within 3 days and contact the Earth." When the Rogue dropship took off with JS in her belly, Adam asked: "Can he do it?" "He was Regiment and a spook" Vasquez said and waving towards the urchins: "We're going to bet on his magic. It is our way of wishing him bonne chance. Do you come with us, Adam?" Thanks
