Description

Another shot from my flea market period. This handsome guy belonged to another person with a booth in the market. He is a brindle colored pit bull terrier with a great personality and a heart of gold. I have a strong affinity for the breed, finding them dangerous only when they have been trained (abused!) to fight. My dog Pooper was half pit, and she was the most kind-hearted, nurturing person I ever knew. Previously; thumb_2024943.jpg

I totally agree, they make the best family pets. It is a shame that breeds like the pitbulls have such a bad reputation.

Yes I totally agree, I have always had big dogs and they have always been soooo gentle.........but I suppose the trouble is that when they are mistreated, made to fight and abused, they can become lethal (as opposed to a crazy miniature poodle with a knife)!!!!!!!!!!!

A superb portrait. Here in the UK bullterriers are the 'weapon of choice' for inadequate working class thugs and the adorable Staffordshire Bull terrier has become a terrible victim of fashion. The PDSA vets see more of this breed than any other with injuries.

I have only seen them on Animal Planets Rescue programmes but I have liked what have seen. Even when ill treated they bounce back, it is the people NOT the dogs. I am really taken with them!!!! Beautiful shot!!!!

Roscoe, My Old Man, was 3/4 pit and I adored him. He had a problem with the color red, however, and would go into a frenzy when someone walked by wearing it. Never figured that out. He was not a dog for children because he was serious about his play but he guarded and protected my children and grandchildren with every nerve in his body. He saved my life and sought help when I collapsed at home alone and could not breathe - did not stop until he found someone to follow him back to where I was crumpled on the floor of the kitchen. These animals are powerful, they do have their own behaviors but they are loyal and loving. This is a marvelous shot.
