Description

This is a tribute to the imaginary prisons of Giovanni Batista Piranesi. Modeled in Lighwtave and 3D-Coat. Characters imported from Quidam. Everything was textured in Lightwave - No postwork, except for the watermark. The sketch textures are made after a technique developped by William Vaughan and James Willmott in the HDRI3D magazine (issue 25 if I recall correctly).

This is impressive. Piranesi's fictitious prison etchings are endlessly fascinating and they've inspired quite a lot of science fictional imagery as well, especially if you've read a bit of William Gibson. This is superb work, worthy of Piranesi himself. Superb work and I particularly love the way in which you've captured light and shadow, and the whole hulking shape of this particular jail. It's deliciously ominous and yet at the same time appealing on an aesthetic level. This is wonderful work.

You've certainly captured the spirit of his work.

Fine use of streaming light rays coming through the dome. Very dramatic lighting as well. Congrats!
