Description

"Millions of students, teachers and parents rallied in schools and college campuses across California to protest deep spending cuts to schools and universities. Bay Area protests flooded streets and plazas, an temporarily shut down 880 in Oakland. Demonstrations, marches, teach-ins and walkouts occurred nationwide Thursday ...in what is being called the "March 4th National Day of Action for Public Education." Just a few shots of today's events. Caught on my way home. How could I resist. Thank you for stopping by.

It's going to be interesting to see how these people react when California goes belly up from all the spending they do. The producers are leaving the state, and they are taking their jobs with them. Just ask Nevada, that's where many have gone. They are sick of being overtaxed to pay for lazy people.

I've spent two days wading through the marchers here in Sacramento. They pretty much blocked travel around the Capitol. I wanted to stop to take photos but I had 25 pounds of newly printed legislation in my hands and it was a big crowd. The sights were very interesting though. I expect I will see them again today, although the crowd doesn't seem as large as 2 days ago.

I love it when people take to the streets--it's a powerful way of showing the world what matters. I know it doesn't usually change anything, but just getting out there make a statement. And as far as education is concerned, it should be given the MOST money of all--RIGHT ON!!

It is sad that we are ignoring our future while caring about the future of other coutries. We are always ready, willing and able to help others when we can not help ourselves. We are going to end up with a bunch of dummies in charge of our government in future years. Do we want another George Bush?
