I am a developing artist working on improving my abilities to create beautiful digital landscape compositions. Without the help and suggestions of the many fellow artists in this community, it would be a long time before I reach the next level.
BIO
I am a retired procurement professional who has long had an interest in photography and painting; and, lately in computers and photorealistic natural landscapes. I hope to become more proficient and perfect my abilities to produce acceptable work. My experience in art started at a very early age when I would spend many hours sketching and painting. I had instruction at The Art Institute in Chicago, Illinois. I did some freelance work for Flying Models, Model Airplane News and Top Flite Models creating plans and illustrative construction sequences for magazines and kit models. I had spent more than 20 years designing, building and flying radio controlled model airplanes...a very rewarding hobby for me. During the 1970s, I spent 11 years in the hobby of "bonsai"; the Japanese art of miniature trees. In my first 7 tree entry in a contest, all 7 trees were awarded ribbons in various categories. Japanese landscaping became a passion for me where I completed a 3 year project creating a Japanese landscape around my home in Oak Forest, Illinois. I also did this work for several other people in our community. In 1987 I moved to Phoenix, Arizona where I currently make my home. The love of the American southwest and all its beauty is where I wanted to spend the rest of my life. Now that we have computers, digital cameras; and, Terragen; I'll have enough to do for a long, long time.

Superb landscape, Bob! Someone has to live there, like you, to be able to do works like this!!!

Beautiful image there Bob. The only thing I would say is this image is actually closer to Ajo than to Yuma. I live in Yuma and there are no Organ Pipe Cactus :( a few Saguaros and a decent abundance of Cholla!! I think the bombing range might have cleared the Organ Pipes.... But I was in the Organ Pipe Cactus National Park last week, and this is very, very close to perfection. BTW... the Colorado River goes through the western part of Yuma, and the city of Yuma is trying to close the Territorial Prison, due to the economy I believe and it is a sad thing.
