My name is Clive, resident in Cape Town, South Africa. I am an amateur photographer who has been enjoying the medium in a more serious manner since 2003.
I took a trip to the UK armed with a Minolta Maxxum 7000 that I had inherited from my Dad.
Out of the holiday snaps, I managed to get a few that I felt were quite good, but had no idea of how I managed to get them 'right'.
Since then I have done a couple of courses in the darkroom and joined a local photographic society where I was on the committee for a while.
Hopefully I am getting it 'right' more often these days.
I have a Minolta Maxxum 7 and being tied into the lens system, the Sony A100 DSLR was my introduction to the digital world. This has recently been upgraded to the Alpha SLT-A55 and I have to admit that I have shot more digital in the last five years than film!
My daughter Kristen (Kris10) and son Sean (fotoSean) have accounts here too, in the hope that they will learn too and share my passion! Sadly they have been rather quiet of late, much like their dad...
August 2015 marks the end of my 3 years as coordinator for the Photographic section of Renderosity. What a wonderful time of my life that I thoroughly enjoyed! Thank you all for the opportunity!
Keep the smile alive,
Clive

Is it me? Or is he (The Jockey) out of School? My goodness he looks damned young! I want what he is on! Great pictures.... Rob

Oh, he looks old enough to handle that horse and very capable. I bet the owners are telling him that if he pulls off a win he can have that big slice of peach pie with whipping cream that he passed up the night before so he could make-weight. :-)

Very creative and just a most wonderful capture, with stellar clarity and precision! I like the way you have juxtaposed the two images together, as though the little man is ready to take whatever suggestion or information he was given, and "make it happen". This reminds me of the Olympics that just passed! Great capture, really!

They are saying if he wins he gets to keep the red shirt. He is obviously non-plused:)

Are those guys sitting to the left and right of the Jockey his security guards. Amazing how minute some of the jockeys is. I suppose it help if you are stream lined and minute for the weight that the horse is carrying.I suppose the trainer told the Jockey you go full out for a win.

They're telling him, "ride hard, turn left, ride hard, turn left." Uh-oh. I just had a thought. What direction do horse races go in a country that drives on the left? Hmmmmm ... Great shots, Clive. Well captured! He looks pretty young in the face-on view, but from the side it's easy to see he's old enough for the job.
