Description

In the '80s I was fascinated by Jean M. Auel's series of books which began with"Clan of the Cave Bear". In the second book, "Valley of Horses", she presented an incredibly detailed and visual description of the art of flint knapping. I was inspired by her writing to try my hand at it; using only what I learned from her writing I produced many serviceable arrowheads and flint blades. These are a few examples of my work. You will definitely want to view this in full-size. Previously; thumb_2029105.jpg

Ohhh I wish you could see these that my dad has....he is so into Indian crafts and he used to find and make these...out of every and any thing...totally cool. He made a clock once for my aunt and uncle...the numbers were arrowheads...the number 9 was a bloodstone...prettiest stone I'd ever seen. He makes birch bark boxes decorated with porcupine quills, sewn with sweet-grass...you name it. Excellent post!

You must have some Indian blood in you Kemosabe! Great job! I'm impressed!! Growing up in my rich Indian History area of Ohio every kid but me had a Cigar box with arrowhead flints... I looked liked crazy but never could find a one!
