You've really come across with a treatment Ive never seen for this subject and unusual for this genre, Frankenstein's monster being the only exception that comes to my mind. It's creepy to me because you've put into the pose an element of humanity as I've never seen before. He's not an agent of laughter who dances and clacks his way across a stage, not a maudlin memento of death, and not the cliched spectre of Death Incarnate. He is exhausted of life, yet he raises the burden of his bones to stand, alone in a dark devoid of any living presence, even vegetable. His eyes still faintly glow as if lit by nearly extinguished embers. He makes me sad and feels wrapped in a shroud of unrest that brings pity. Love that you have him standing in the water, by the way. An emblem of life, water is also an emblem of forgetting, which shades must do by drinking of the Lethe in the Underworld. At danger of being impertinent, I like to think that possibly he will drink enough next time to rest at last.
