Description

When the lava came close to the viewing area in Oct 2009, the paved road was destroyed leaving this road sign in tack. But the sign is gone now? Someone either took it or removed it??? Probably never to be seen again? And I got the pictures. Aloha and thank you for viewing

Super capture Errol. I'm surprised that the sign post did not melt. Dana

This is a cool shot. Did you ever get the one of the car in the lava? Lucky you could capture a bit of history. Aloha

That sign is probably 6' high so you know the lava is deep here...even when things are bolted down, people will steal it...amazing! Aloha~

Love it! Be aware of virtually everything except a lava flow. That's a classic sign!

"Beware of pedestrians - ignore the lava flows" Wonderful catch! Sometimes the things are gettin`a little bit surreal.... Watch out and Aloha!

I can't imagine crawling over that lava to snag the sign... How interesting to see it peeking over the rock.

Old signs...no longer able to do the job they were installed to do always seem to get the treatment that this sign did. Great shot.

Great shot! It doesn't say anything about look out for lava flow - lol... and the amazing thing is, the sign looks relatively new, I'm not seeing rust or letters falling off... and it's amazing it's not discolored at the base, you'd thing the lava would burn that metal and drop that sign - at least I would think that - lol
