Description

Namibia 2010 This salt water marsh was captured way north on the Skeleton Coast - in fact about 100 miles north of Swakopmund and very close to where the Skeleton Coast National Park starts. It is about 300 meters from the ocean and I was fascinated by it. The flora is all succulent type plants. I wish I had someone with some knowledge on this specific ecosystem with me to educate me a little more! Thank you for your wonderful comments and favs on my upload "Alone" of yesterday. Stay well! Hugs Carin xx

This thriving life in the lunar landscape of the Namibian coast is very striking. I love exploring marshes of all types, I could spend weeks examining and photographing the life in this one!

The very title is amazing, a marsh in the desert is just so unlikely and yet here you show us how beautiful it is--wow!!

Very nice indeed...you need to import Andrea...realizing she'd want time to do a little homework on your area:)

Fascinating that it seems so similar to our temperate equivalent! You did comment on my pic of one http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=2011640&user_id=525276&np&np These areas are vital for migrating birds in the UK. Maybe it's the same there.

There are an array of colours, apart from the fisherman there doesn't seem to be any other people around? Lovely picture!!!!

Superlative POV and DOF employed in this capture of the marsh with its vast array of succulents, Carin! Kind of reminds me of reclamation projects here in good old Southern California. Incidentally, we had the sharp jolt of a 4.4 on-the-Richter-scale earthquake early this morning at 4:04 AM. Knocked several things to the floor but that was about it. Difficult to fall back to sleep after that.

This is so wonderful. Its amazing to me how similar the landscape is there to what I know here. Or at least similar to what I know. The marshes are a big part of my life.

What a wonderful place! I would love to know more about it, too. "Desert Marsh" seems oxymoronic to me, but hey ... what do I know? Obviously there's at least one. :P Fascinating!
