Description

As Carol King once sang, "I feel the earth move under my feet". Not an earthquake, even though we are living on a long overdue fault line here. But rather it's the annual stirring and awakening of Mother Earth from her long slumbers, emerging from yet another long winter. And quite a cold one we had this year too; even a couple of good snows here in Memphis. But of course only a fool would state with any assurance that by mid-March old man winter had slipped once again back into its own slumbers. We've had bad freezes here all the way into late April. And several times in the last 20 years we've had those late season freezes strike after the flowering trees had already begun to open their blossoms, thus resulting in the destruction of our spring floral display. Hate it when that happens! And I'm a bit nervous for this spring, because as cold as our winter was I just don't believe it's completely finished. But the last couple of weeks have warmed up considerably, thus resulting in this, my first spring post. The buds are popping out like crazy here, and some trees have already begun to bloom! So I'll be grabbing my camera a lot, and shooting with my fingers crossed! Happy Spring! marshall
