(Jan. 2008) Hello everyone and thanks for visiting my page. My name is Tom, and I've been interested in art and sketch drawing as a hobby for as long as I can remember, although never very seriously. In mid 2007 I started using Poser 6 and Photoshop Elements, and have been 'hooked' on '3D' art ever since. I'm still learning to use various 3D modeling programs to try and develop some digital art skills. I enjoy getting feedback from other artists on what to work on and how to improve.
(Feb. 2009) The submarine I've attempted to animate is from an old TV show in the 1960s called 'Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea'. Although the show was kind of cheesy, I remember watching it after school along with old episodes of Star Trek.

Tom, this looks great! I love the reflections (I've no idea how to do them), the shadows and especially the water and splashes.

Cool scene, fantastic lightning and water effect!

In Bryce I used to use terrains mapped with a glass mat (because they render faster than the water mats for some reason) and I would Paint the ripples with the terrain editing tool. Tada! In Photoshop it's not quite as easy, because of how the reflections have to be calculated, and because it's at an angle it takes more fussing. The Liquify filter works the best, IMO, select, click on Liquify, use the push tool to move the reflection up and down in the shape you want. Because it's tricky I use the filter on a duplicate layer, in case I hate the end effect (you can't really see it in the preview). I don't know about you, but I am ready for summer;)

Lwperkins has the best suggestions for ripples, I'll have to pop up my copy of Vue 8 (demo) and see what the view editors are like, but basically, you need to add ripples in the terrain editor, or maybe you can add them as a displacement map.

This looks great! You can do a ripple effect in Photo-shop using the flood filter from Flaming Pear. It also gives reflections. You jut adjust it ti suit your own preferences.
