Description

These are one of the many patterns that can develop, as part of a coral reef. Corals are marine organisms from the class Anthozoa and exist as small sea anemone-like polyps, typically in colonies of many identical individuals. The group includes the important reef builders that are found in tropical oceans, which secrete calcium carbonate to form a hard skeleton. Information from Wikipedia. Photo taken March 19th on Pompano Beach, Florida. Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous comments and favs. Dana

Ever since I was a child, I always wanted to bake cookies that looked like this! I'm weird like that. I love the details in this, the calcified anthozoa shapes, the almost primordial "feel" and the light picks out details wonderfully. This is great.

Nicely done Dana...I recall bringing a few fans of coral home from a trip to the Florida Keys 50 years ago...it wasn't protected then...I'd probably be arrested today for removing some from a reef! This is a very interesting photo.
