Zell sat on the floor by the bridge hatch watching the women talk about the upcoming visit to Ebony's family when Joshua started playing some of his ancient Earth music over the ships intercom. Magenta and Baby started dancing to it. Zell watched Baby sway to the music, hypnotized. Peenk looked down at the boy, watching his eyes follow Baby's every move. Glancing up at Joshua who'd just arrived, she smiled. After a while, Magenta stopped and watched the Twi'lek dance. Her feet tracing intricate patterns across the deck. Her hands and lekku moving seductively. "Zell?" Kirk asked. "Yes sir," the young man whispered, his eyes never leaving Tel'meht. "Do you know what dance this is?" "No. I thought it was just a dance." "No. To a Twi'lek woman, this is the most important dance she will ever do. It is called Eternity." Joshua then bent down. "And she's dancing it for you, Zell." "Me?" "Yes. Boy, she's proposing." The oldest Orinie turned to Kirk in shock. "And this is not something they enter into lightly. When they marry, Zell, Twi'leks marry for life. Remember that. If you don't think you are up to it, or don't want to, now is the time to leave the room. Otherwise, she'll continue the dance." After several seconds Zell turned back to the dance. Joshua smiled. Looking out the front viewport he saw a Twi'lek male on the nearby walkway watching also, signalling someone off to the side. "Joshua. She's not touching anything on the bridge." Zell said. "How can she do that with her eyes closed?" "She knows where everything on this bridge is. She can dance over every square inch and never touch a console, or a chair. You see, to her, they don't exist. To her there are only three things in the universe right now. You, herself, and the dance. Everything else is gone. There's only the three of you." "You seem to know a lot about this," Peenk whispered, staring at the man. "Thank god for the holonet." Joshua heard the rest of the Runner's crew come up the central passage. Melee tapped his arm. "Is she dancing Eternity?" He nodded. Melee and Ano jumped for joy and hugged each other. Looking out the viewport, the audience had grown from one to about two hundred, mostly Twi'leks. That was fast Joshua thought to himself. Baby danced for two hours, sweat glistening on her skin. On the walkway, the audience continued to grow. "Now comes the most important part of the dance." Joshua explained. "She will launch herself across the room straight at you. You must not flinch. Nor can you blink, or turn your head. That will signify that you do not trust her. She will stop, Zell, her forehead touching yours. She will then wrap her Lekku around your neck. You will then have two choices. Kiss her and accept, or turn your head away. And it's too late for that. I will not let you hurt her." Zell turned to his friend. "I would sooner rip out these eyes and blind myself again!" "You're a good man." Kirk said nodding. As he had said, Baby threw herself across the bridge, landing in front of Zell, their foreheads touching, her Lekku around his neck. For a second she knelt there, a look of fear on her face. Gently, Zell Orinie kissed her. With a whoop, she jumped up and started a new dance. this one of joy and happiness. The crew of the Runner celebrated, while the walkway was full of people of every race, celebrating and dancing as well.
