Description

Here's a fun (cold) photo upload, in between renders. After a couple of sunny, upper 60s spring teaser days, Mother Nature once again demonstrates she does indeed have a twisted sense of humor. Steve (eekdog) commented in one of his posts about having snow in Colorado. Well, Steve, it looks like your snow slid across Kansas, and spent all day Saturday dumping on western Missouri. This is a photo of my infamous backyard telephone pole. Those insulators are 4 to 5 inches tall depending on the particular model. The pins they are mounted on add another 1 - 2 inches to the height, so the tops are 6 - 7 inches off the crossarms. This gives you a pretty good idea of how much snow we had yesterday. The insulators on the far right on the third crossarm down from the top are mounted on what's called a transposition bracket. It holds them away from the crossarm, which is why they are not covered with snow. I'm soooooooo ready for spring :-P Thanks for looking, and I really appreciate all your comments, ratings and feaves! Hope everyone has a great (snow free) week!

Great capture! After several days of nice warm weather and I was able to get a lot of yard work done, today, it decided that it will drop cold rain on us. If it is going to be cold, I want snow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I can't help but laugh and smile at your comments above. This is what we call "Sala sa init, sala sa lamig" in the Philippines. When it's dry and warm where you live, you want snow and cold. It's the opposite for those who live in snowy places. Just got back from vacation and it is nice to see snow, it was a great, fun time. Thank you for sharing this photo. We sure love to see spring too.

It started out a little gray here, then started snowing REAL hard for a couple hours, mostly melting as it hit the ground though, then it turned into rain...sun came out, turned what snow stayed to slush then it stopped for an hour and is snowing again....but the sun is still out. lol So I can relate to Mother Nature playing tricks on us. lol Excellent shot Rod. Wow...lot of snow there, you can keep it. lol

Well THAT is truly sucky!!! Bear ground here in NH...and been in the 60's the past few days...today 50's and gray and expecting rain...but no snow! It has TRULY felt like spring. However, here in NE we are not out of the woods for more snow...but at least it won't last long!!!

Very cool. I wish we could get a little of that snow here in Houston. And I had no idea they were still using those glass caps anywhere. I used to have one as a paper weight, until it broke. Mt grandfather gave it to me, I always thought it was an antique. Great shot buddy.

This is a great way to show how much snow you have! Thanks for the measurements ... it's easy to visualize! Today we went to the beach. :P It was sunny and windy, but not too cold. (At least for me it wasn't too cold. Bill was glad for his jacket!) We've had a very mild winter and are enjoying spring in full swing already! :)

Hi Rod. Great picture. Your collection of glass insulators makes me think of my biggest collection...every National Geographic beginning in October 1888 to this month of March 2010... Didn't you tell me you had about 1,000 insulators. The Nat Geos number close to 1200 (early years didn't always have 12/year). How do you spell "obsession"? At any rate, you can measure snow with yours:) But I just use my collection to anchor my house as tornadoes pass by!!!

As the owner of one single chipped and scratched insulator, found on a hike in Lincoln, New Hampshire, I am in awe of this snowy and cold display. Rumor has it that you have a thousand insulators thus cornering the market! That makes it tough for the rest of us! :o)
