Description

I was watching the excellent film "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow" and I thought I want to create images like that! I eventually found a P40 (as used by our hero) on BAZZE's site and found it to be a fab model. I plonked the pilot from his Spitfire into the cockpit (well, Jude Law IS British) and decided to TRY and create texture for the plane to match the film. I was going to ask someone else to do that (Hi Newill) but I wanted to have a bash first. The image was rendered in Bryce and blurred and bleached in PhotoShop to match the look of the film - though it needs more grain I think. My idea now is to pit Sky Captain and his Army for Hire (well, airforce actually!) against all manner of retro evils... time will tell. Thanks for looking. Iain

I agree, looks great Iain. I have the DVD too but haven't got round to watching it yet. Good work on the weathered texture and blur effect :)

Nice rendition of "Polly." Loved the film when it hit the theaters and I still watch it regularly. The film's creator Kevin Curran really was a pioneer with his near-completely virtual sets. H definitely, definitively set the pace for successors like AVATAR. Tall ya, I cannot see a can of Vienna Sausages without hearing that guy in Tibet's wistful, lustful cry.
