Oh duh on me. I should have looked at this one after I recommended picking up a Wacom. Well! What a difference one render makes and this is so much more refined. If I had one comment, it would be to smudge your intermediate layers with a 32 pixel or 64 pixel custom hair brush so that it will soften the appearance of the hair and give it a softer look. I usually run my smudges between 60-70% and when I flatten everything it looks softer than if I didn't smudge at all. Well, it looks that way when I get it right that is! Your skills are growing and it's wonderful to watch you progress. Keep it up!

great job on painting the hair, especially for an early attempt. the postworked hair/clothing could use some shadows, however - itll add to the realism and ground them in the image more. also, try playing around with the edit -> adjust -> curves filter in photoshop, to add a little more contrast to the image and bring out the highlights a bit more. cheers, -gabriel
