On Aviation and Photography:
"You haven't seen a tree until you've seen its shadow from the sky." -- Amelia Earhart
“You don't take a photograph, you make it.” - - Ansel Adams
UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Oh now! I gotta say the colour of wood does it for me! So colour it has to be! Rob.
Faemike55
I think this is even better than the colour version! Richer by far
auntietk
Oh dear ... I like them both! Don't ask me to choose. Ummm ... perhaps a slight preference for the b&w, because it highlights the excellent abstract composition. On the other hand ... well ... I like them both!
helanker
ANd it goes very well in grey scale too. I also like them both.

I'm with Tara - cannot choose! They are really both so special! Wonderful shot both in mono and color! :)

Oh my, no way could I ever choose between these two shots. Each has its own special beauty, so I'll just say---wow!!
jmb007
tout aussi superbe que l'autre!!
drace68
Color works better here. B&w needs drama IMO.
wjames
Both great shots, but i think this one just gets top spot.

Wow - Bill, I'm trying to decide which I like better... In some ways, I like the B&W version better; very graphic and classic. And yet, when I look at the color version, I love the subtle primary colors. I guess this is one of the things about a great photo - it translates well to either color or monochrome. You have a winner here, either way.
Kaartijer
Good choice! I guess I like it better this way!
tennesseecowgirl
The lighting on both are just stunning.. nice work!! now can you play us a tune or two?? :)
goodoleboy
Terrific lighting effects permeate the scene. Early morning Gothic in this version, Bill. Right out of a 1930's movie.

I like the colour one better but this is still a great shot.
