Description

As a news photographer I have experienced a lot, good and bad. My worst nightmare happend the 29 of march 1980. In the North Sea, the flotel (floating hotel) rig, "Aleksander Killand", capsized and 123 people were killed. One of five legs fell of and the rig fell over. I was among the first photographers on the scene and saw the worst disaster first hand. Have never forgot this. Left pic: The rig and the broken leg is drifting away from the drilling rig "Edda". Centre pic: You can see the broken leg floating beside the capsized rig. Right pic: Rescue boat at the scene. Little Stavanger, Norway was top news all over the world and was floaded by media and I got a picture on the front page in "New York Times". Its 30 years ago theese days and all the media are marking the day. .............Full size view a must............

photo journalism is something that has always intrigued me. The moment is short and skills must come second nature to get it captured. This is astounding work.
